Eureka!

I've got it!

The second book's entire story line came to me today in one giant WOOSH of inspiration. I sat down and wrote out an outline and it's going to be great! My horoscope didn't predict this at all today. :)

My bad guy just got a lot more depth, my side characters all got complications of their own and my protagonist just got a whole bag full of new trouble. Did I tell you it's going to be great?

I think I was stalled because I knew I was setting up for a second book somehow, but I just didn't know what it was going to be about. Now I know what direction I need to be writing to and that's going to help me find the perfect way to write the last of the side character's scenes. Also, the first book now has an awesome cliff-hanger for me to steer toward. Yay! It's like driving toward a canyon at a million miles a second and knowing that you don't have to hit the bottom.

I can't wait for my final to be over today so that I can come running home to write! I guess this is the rush that keeps the pros coming back novel after novel, no matter how much of a painful process it is.

If you haven't seen this, you really need to. Seriously, some people spend too much time on their hair and should pay closer attention to important parts of modern culture. Important parts... nay, VITAL parts like Star Wars!

I'm telling you. It truly is evil. I have had no traffic at all since I joined. We hates them forever, my precious...

So apparently Google has decided that collecting info about people is a good idea. I used to have an AdSense link down at the bottom of my page where if my readers clicked on an ad presented there, it might end up making me a couple of bucks eventually. It never has, but you never know. Anyway, I figured at the bottom of my page it was reasonably unobtrusive, so I left it.

However, with the latest move to collect information about where you've been before and after leaving my blog so they can better target their ads to you, I have removed the app. I just won't be party to the propagation of what is in essence spy ware.

K, that's enough rant for one night!

Library Update

OK, the list was just too unwieldy. Check out the link under 'Other Goodness' to the right. It just says 'Heather's Library' but is a link to a live spreadsheet in my Google Docs and it will automatically re-publish the list every time I add something to it. Let me know if you can all get to it and what you think! You shouldn't be able to update it, so let me know if you can.

I haven't added very many of my paperbacks, because if they're really worth having, I plan to replace them with hard bounds anyway. Anyway, it's a start. Long live the bibliophiles!

Heather's Library

So when I eventually have a house, I've always dreamed of having a library. When people ask me what I want as gifts, I usually tell them to just get me their favorite book, prefereably hard-bound. The prettier and more long-lasting the binding, the better. This way, my library won't just consist of my standard fare of silly fantasy novels and theology books. The practical upshot of this, though, is that people keep buying me books they think I will like, so last Christmas I recieved a few books that I already owned, because you guys all know me so darn well!

To alleviate this, I'm going to start keeping a list on this blog of books that I own. I'm not sure how I feel about the list system on here because there's not a lot you can do with it, so I may do it some other way. I've just put down the books I happen to have here in my room and I have a bunch more in storage, so this is far from a comprehensive list, but it will get me started.

Let me know if you guys have any ideas about how I can do a better job with a more database-like book list that I can link to this blog if you can think of anything. Gracias!
