Wow, I just realized it's been over a month since I posted anything. Unfortunately, there hasn't been a whole lot of a news-worthy nature going on. Tom's doing ok. I'm doing ok. Dad's healthy and Mom's settling in (maybe a trifle grudgingly, but she's being real brave). My bro has too many good options work-wise to choose from. One of my sisters just got an awesome job in a cool new town and my other sister's seemingly biggest problem is that she doesn't have an eating disorder (a true career killer in the picture biz apparently). So everyone is ok.
So what do you talk about when everything is ok? The weather of course! And holy cow, has THAT been rough! It's been at least 120 degrees by about 10:00 every morning and it just keeps cooking from there. I look forward to the middle of the night when it gets down to 80 or 90 degrees. And it's dry. I'm guzzling water all the time. The plants are turning brown and scruffy. My skin is breaking out in heat rashes. The poor sparrows look scruffy and malnourished. It's impossible to find any standing water anywhere. The desert is a hard place.
Actually, because of my proximity, does that put me between Iraq and a hard place? Wow, I totally regret even typing that, because everyone knows that the only people who go to hell are them what make bad puns, but for lack of anything better to say, I think I'll just leave it.
