Tom's got a date
Tom got his orders. It looks like he will be leaving in a week and will hit his parent's house for a few days. Guess I get the packout duties... Wow. I'm turning into my mom! I remember how much she used to dread the PCS process and how often Dad would end up PCSing before the rest of us. She always handled it all with such grace. How did she do that?

On the road again
So one of the reasons I've been feeling nostalgic enough to start a blog is because we will be moving from our island paradise of Kwajalein to the sand box. It's looking like we will both end up in Kuwait right now, but more on that once we find out exactly where we'll be. Our time on Kwaj has been a little shorter than I thought it would be, but I think we may end up doing another tour out here once our tolerance for the Middle East has ended. We'll just let those savings simmer in the bank.
Tom is really looking forward to leaving. He has a hard time staying in any one place for too long, so I've really been the hold-out. Once I got this offer with ITT it seemed like all the stars had aligned correctly for us to justify leaving about the coolest lifestyle on the planet in pursuit of the almighty buck. So we go to brave sand storms, excruciating heat, spiders the size of my head and 12 hour work days. On the up side, we will be able to put away 5 times what we can put away here in the same time frame. So there's the justification.
I know my family isn't happy about it, and who can blame them really? The stuff that you see on TV about the region is pretty scary stuff. I'm really not worried though. By all accounts the Kuwaitis are about the biggest fans we have in the region after Israel. The amount of time I'm going to be spending at work will pretty much preclude any chance at getting off base very often. My life will pretty much consist of work and continuing college for the next 3 years. Talk about culture shock!
Anyway, I'm resolved to it, so anyone reading this that is concerned, try not to be because I'm not.
