Can keep me fro!m my 50,000 word goal! Tom will probably be flying out here on the 2nd or 3rd. I'm sneaking writing time when I can, because frankly, I'm terrified of cleaning all of Kris' shoes. He has several hundred pair... seriously. Also, Kris is a guy. Believe it... or not
Ok, so just plugging along as I can, I've managed to make it to 37,766 words. I've had to cut out two traveling scenes, but really I think those will simply be used to add some action scenes and introduce a sense of urgency as the baddies try to get my main character. Anyway, the plot is nearly there and if I hit "The" and "End" before 50K, I can go in and start writing those travel scenes.
Anyway, I'm gearing up for the last 7 weeks of writing, trying to spend as much time as possible with my man, getting excited about the Ireland trip, trying to get stuff sold off/moved and trying to keep some semblance of interest in my "job."
Wish me luck!

College
Guess what? I'm a senior! I had a reassessment done and I have 43 credits left. Now, mind you, most of those credits are upper level, but still, if I take 3.5 classes each semester for 4 semesters, I'm done! I'll have my BS! This makes the plan in Laos even better. If it sucks, I can just finish my BS. If it rules, it will be that much easier to knock out the Master's in about 3 years. :) Yay me!

Burn baby burn
Ok, so what about this? My poor TyTN took a bath face down in a puddle of Coca-Cola. I went into mourning for a respectable period. There were both sackcloth Aaaaand ashes. Then I bought the TyTN II (AKA the Kaiser). Let me just say one word about it.
Yum.
Anyway, it has this cool app on the cooked ROM my pal helped me upload and I get something called feeds to the desktop of my new phone. This is bad ass. If I can get online, I get up-to-the-minute news and headlines from tons of different sources. I was looking at how long it's been since I posted and felt guilty because I know there are those of you who check my blog almost daily. So eronious assumptions is now an RSS feed.
If you would like to simply be notified when I make a new post, check out the shortcut over on the right hand side a little way down the page or if you're all high-speed/low-drag, simply subscribe to http://feeds.feedburner.com/EroniousAssumptions and the feed engine will let you know almost immediately.
So there you go, friends and family mine. That's me, trying to make it easier for you.
You're welcome. haha!

A lot to talk about
It's been a long time since I've posted. Here's why: We're moving and things have been really up in the air.
Tom and I were originally planning on staying in Kuwait for 3-5 years. Financially it just made sense to do so. I was willing to leave Kwaj for a certain dollar amount and we're not there yet. I also wasn't ready to go back to the states because I still wasn't done with my bachelor's degree and I really want that before I hit the big bad corporate world back in the states.
We've been here for about a year and a half and we both hate it. I'm not going to go into too many details here until after we leave. Once we're officially out of here, though, tune back in because I'm going to write a full expose on why this was one of the worst experiences of my life. Anyway, the long and short of this is that we've got to get outa here.
Tom has been offered a Project Management job running de-mining teams in Laos. Anyone who knows Tom and I knows that we adore SE Asia. I mean, adore is really the wrong word. Maybe if that word had another 20 sylables or something it might be big enough to encompass the actual feeling behind it. If I were the type of person that didn't have anyone in my life that I loved and would miss, I might consider just picking up and moving to Cambodia "... and she was never heard from again..."
I think the places that you love are a sort of anchor. Not as much as the people, but almost. I've said it before, but there will always be a string around my heart that terminates in Seattle. There's another one whose other end is on a little chunk of coral in the South Pacific. The same might be said of Cambodia, but I haven't really set down any permanent roots there yet, and I suspect Laos will be no different. Tom already thinks he's Lao. He spent some time there living among her beautiful people and loved it there more than Thailand and Cambodia put together. Needless to say, when they offered him almost as much money there as he is making here, his heart hit the back of his throat. Seriously, I saw it. It was kinda gross.
Though I said when I left Kwaj that Kuwait would be my last overseas tour, we're just not done yet and I simply can't stay here any longer. It's killing my spirit. I may need that later. So we're going to try and make Laos et al our really real last overseas tour.
I miss my America. I miss my family. I miss all that is good and green and natural to me and none of that is here. I want strangers to smile at me even when they don't want something from me. I want out of here. Tom was in this same place a while ago. We're leaving.
So here's the plan: Tom is going to get out of here and go to Laos ASAP. This could take 3 weeks or more. He'll figure out where we'll be permanently over the next few months, then we'll get Picric over to him. I'll out-process from here and go back through the CRC for out briefing etc. and then I'm going to try to stop in three places: Huntsville, Elko, and WA. I hope to see as many people as I can during that time, but my time will be limited. Tom goes a little crazy when I'm not around for too long, and he has to be out in the jungle for weeks at a time for his job, so there might not be anyone to take care of little miss if I take too long.
The next step will be for me to rejoin my handsome husband in a little grass shack (ok, that's an exaggeration) in paradise (that's not an exaggeration). I will go to school full time and we will keep trying for kids. I may do a little volunteer work for some worthy causes so the gaping holes in my resume don't gape quite so hard. I'm going to be a kept woman for the most part. Weird hu? Me. I'm married only half to Tom. The other half of me was already spoken for my career. However, some good friends and Tom have convinced me that this would be a really good move for said career, so we'll see how it goes. I'm going to try to get my BS as quickly as possible and then if we're still having fun, move right into a Master's program. How 'bout that?
So, one stipulation I've made is that we must have at least one spare bedroom. Yep, I'm opening up the offer to just about any of you. You know who you are. Please come see us! I'll take you elephant riding and out to feed some monkeys and we'll go see wonders that most Westerners don't even know exist. It cannot disappoint.
So that's the news guys.
I know that I've been remiss in posting about the novel. Things have been so crazy for me, I fell a little behind, but I have not missed any deadlines and last weekend, I knocked out 3500+ words!!! That's a lot of friggin words. Anyway, I've regained a lead, so I should hit my quota with no problem by the time the next challenge is due. Bethany is about to board a ship, which will probably make her very happy. She's dreamed of being a sailor all her life. I'm sure the sea-sickness probably didn't occur to her, nor any of the other mundane problems that plague long periods at sea, but she's 16, so you'll have to bear with her optimism.
Bethany and I are off on the next leg of our respective adventures...
